The Doors, WAITING FOR THE SUN

This year marks the 50th anniversary of The Doors’ third studio album, and to commemorate this notable occasion, Rhino will be offering up something very special: WAITING FOR THE SUN: 50TH ANNIVERSARY DELUXE EDITION.

This 2-CD, 1-LP collection offers fans a new version of the original stereo mix of the album on CD as well as on 180-gram vinyl, and as you might reasonably presume, the album has indeed been remastered by Bruce Botnick, The Doors’ longtime engineer-mixer, from the original master tapes. In addition, fans will also be graced with 14 completely unreleased tracks: nine “rough mixes” from the original recording sessons which were only recently discovered, and five live performance from a 1968 performance by the band in Copenhagen.

The set won’t actually be out until next week – Sept. 14, to be precise – but to hold you over ‘til then, we’ve got a taste of the goodies for you: the rough mix of “Spanish Caravan.”

Pretty great, right?

Here’s the full track listing of the set for your perusal, and don’t forget to pre-order your copy ASAP, lest you find yourself wanting on September 14:
