Now Available: The Latest David Bowie 7” Picture Disc

Yes, Bowie fans, our ongoing series of David Bowie 7” picture discs rolls on, and you can now pick up a copy of the latest entry: “Be My Wife.”

The second and final single from Bowie’s 1977 album, LOW, “Be My Wife” was one of the least experimental-sounding songs to be found on the LP. This certainly helped its chances of being issued as a single, but it didn’t do anything to help the song up the charts: it was, as music history reveals, the first Bowie single to fail to crack the charts since “Changes” five years earlier.

This, of course, meant precisely nothing to Bowie, who often introduced “Be My Wife” as one of his favorite songs. Take that, charts!

The “Be My Wife” 7” picture disc features a previously-unreleased live version of “Art Decade,” an instrumental from LOW, that was recorded at a 1978 show in Perth, Australia. As for the pictures, they were taken in 1977 by Christian Simonpietri.

Don’t hesitate if you want a copy: it’s limited edition, and it won’t last forever.
